She likes the way the smell lingers—on her clothes, on her hair, on her body—after a cigarette or two.
Ginoza was hesitant to share the first time around. Not because he was being stingy, but because he knew why. Maybe it was the reason why he started smoking too. The company she gives him during nights like these relaxes him in a way that he doesn’t know how to put into words. So when Tsunemori comes up to him after hours, after the new inspector and the other have left, he pulls out their favorite brand of cigarettes to light and share with her without even thinking about it.
Headcanon: Whenever both their shifts coincide, Akane would join Gino for a smoke after work. Akane’s very specific for the brand though, otherwise the smell repulses her—it has to be Kogami’s usual cigarettes. She doesn’t smoke often, not even when Shion invites her. She only ever smokes when it’s from Gino’s pack of cigarettes. Gino never questions it or speaks of it because he understands. They also become drinking buddies as soon as Akane becomes legal (despite being an enforcer, Gino’s still pretty uptight with trivial things unlike Akane).
